Judaculla Rock : A rare Petroglyph over 1000 years old!
A nice road trip from Dancing Sun Cabins is to travel to Sylva and visit this historical rock carved by ancient people. There is easy access and a nice place to take a stroll through a farmland preserve.
It is rare in these mountains, to be able to stroll through fields and view open pasture land. Trees tend to take over any open land that is not regularly mowed or eaten by livestock. This area offers one a chance to stroll through meadows and view huge chunks of soapstone that were quarried many, many years ago.
It's a great place to take a picnic. There are no tables, but plenty of large rocks on which to spread out a nice lunch.
Sylva is a nice historic town with shops and eateries. It is also a great place to do a little shopping and walking around.
