Birdwatching

One of our favorite things is to do as we hike is to identify new birds that we see.   The Appalachian Mountains are a rich thoroughfare for migrating songbirds.  Also, there are many large birds of prey.  You may hear the eerie sound of the screech owl or the classic “who, who” of the great horned owl.  We also have a wide variety of hawks and an occasional eagle.
